There are so many easy and convenient ways to help make a difference in the life of a homeless animal. With your generous donations, together we can change the lives of many of Norfolk's homeless animals. Below are the many ways you can help.

Monetary Donations

Friends of Norfolk Animal Care Center is a charitable foundation created to support the work and maximize the resources of NACC. As a municipal animal control agency, city funding provides basic food, shelter and preventive vaccines. However, a number of animals arrive ill, injured or otherwise in need of additional and sometimes expensive medical care. With your generous donations, we provide funding for medical care, foster programs, staff training, medical equipment and medications, adoption events and spay/neuter clinics. Pet Pantry Donations

More pets are finding themselves in shelters as some people are forced to make a choice between feeding their families or feeding their pets. So Friends of Norfolk Animal Care Center created the Southside’s first Pet Pantry in 2011.

Kroger Rewards Card

Helping the homeless animals of our shelter is now as easy as a trip to the grocery store with the Kroger Community Rewards Program. It only takes a few minutes to register your Kroger Plus Card with Friends of Norfolk Animal Care Center online and start shopping. If you don't yet have a card, they are free and available at the customer service desk at any Kroger. Here's how to help NACC with your shopping card:

Click on "Edit Kroger Community Rewards information" and input your Kroger Plus card number
Update or confirm your information
Enter Friends of NACC's NPO number, 91601, or just select the name of our organization from the list
Start shopping! (Members must swipe their registered Kroger Plus card OR phone number that is related to their registered Kroger Plus card when shopping for each purchase to count.) If you don't know your Kroger Plus Card#, call 800-576-4377 & select option 4 to get it.

Local artist Myke Irving was inspired by a young kitten's incredible health challenges and sweet nature to create a charming piece of art that can purchased on tote bags, pillows, cards and other items. United Way Campaigns

If you are making a contribution to a United Way campaign, please consider designating your gift to Friends of Norfolk Animal Care Center. We are listed in three separate United Way Campaigns that are going on right now and employees can sign up, in most cases, through December 15th.

Combined Federal Campaign: Available for all federal employees. The Friends of NACC # is 73232. Link to website
Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign: Available for all state employees. The Friends of NACC # is 08354. Link to website
Combined Charities Campaign: Available for employees of municipalities and school systems in South Hampton Roads (Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Chesapeake). Although we don't have an agency number, donors may simply write in our name “Friends of Norfolk Animal Care Center” on their donation card.

Your designated donations do make a difference. Typically, we receive over $11,000 annually through these campaigns – dollars that go a long way to do good for homeless pets. If you are not a federal, state, or city employee, please consider making a donation through our Network for Good donation button at the bottom of the page.

Charitable Bequests

A will represents a person’s final wishes and intentions. After providing for your loved ones, please consider making a final impact through a bequest in your will or trust to the Friends of Norfolk Animal Care (FNACC) and help us continue to fund the vital work of our organization.

Bequests can take many different forms and FNACC encourages consultation with an attorney to draft specific language that accomplishes your wishes. We encourage our donors to make bequests unrestricted so that the bequest is available for areas of greatest funding need as determined by the FNACC Board of Directors. Unless you intend to make a restricted bequest, please include language specifically indicating that the bequest is unrestricted. If you intend to make a restricted bequest, please contact us so that we can ensure your intentions can be met and assist you in identifying a specific FNACC program or project of your choosing.

Bequests to benefit Friends of Norfolk Animal Care Center, commonly referred to as FNACC, should be made to: “Friends of Norfolk Animal Care, Fed Tax ID# 35-2262336, P.O. Box 11403, Norfolk, VA 23517, if it is an Internal Revenue Code section 501(c)(3) organization at the time of my death, or its successor in interest.”

FNACC is a 501(c)(3) registered non-profit organization; therefore, donations are fully tax deductible. You can view our Mission Statement, Annual Report to see how we fund our various programs, and descriptions of these programs on our About Us page.
